Text Box: YOUR CAPTAIN
Cody Loomis lives with his wife Marlie in Sitka, Alaska. Marlie is a Kindergarten teacher in the winter, and helps Cody run the charter fishing business in the summer. Cody spends his winters as an Aircraft Mechanic. Marlie and Cody met in Elfin Cove while they were both working at a fishing lodge, Marlie as a cook/housekeeper, and Cody as a fishing guide.
Cody has been guiding professionally for over ten years, and has been fishing since he was a small boy dragging herring around the icy waters of the Chilkat Inlet near Haines with his dad, Craig. Craig was born and raised in Alaska, as was Cody. Craig has instilled in Cody a healthy respect for the natural resources abounding in Alaska. He has also taught Cody everything he has learned over a lifetime of fishing in Alaska.
Cody is a USCG certified 6-pack charter captain, current in 1st Aid & CPR.

VESSEL
Cody’s boat, the “High Life” was bought in Sitka, AK in 2002. Over the years Cody has maintained the “High Life” to the highest standards. In it’s current form it has a 2008 D4 Volvo Penta diesel engine with new outdrive, a four stroke “Kicker” for trolling and safety, a diesel-fired stove in the cabin for heat and comfort, lots of deckspace for fishing, and a settee in the cabin that seats four comfortably. The “High Life” is complete with a computer navigational system and Nobeltec Navigation software. The electronics are rounded out with radar, and a colorgraph bottom sonar. This package allows Cody to find the fish and stay on them. The “High Life” is a first class, drug-free, USCG 3-star safety vessel.

GEAR
The fishing gear onboard the boat is extremely functional. Cody uses two-speed Avet halibut reels on 6-foot Lamiglass bigwater rods. The salmon gear consists of Penn 320 LD reels with level winds mounted on sensitive salmon rods. Halibut are fished for with bait, jigs and circle hooks while either anchored, or drifting depending on conditions and guest preference. Salmon are targeted by either trolling, mooching, or jigging, depending upon the guests’ preference in fishing style.
